All About Dr. Sturgill I graduated from Walden University with an Ed.D. in education. I received my undergraduate degrees from the University of Dayton and the University of Southern Mississippi. I earned National Board certification in 2001 and am certified to teach grades K-12 with gifted endorsement. I have been teaching for nineteen years. I was a teacher consultant for the National Geographic Society and was nominated to serve as U.S. Ambassador to China by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
I married my high school sweetheart 32 years ago. We traveled throughout the United States while Mike served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Air Force after serving for 21 years, and we moved to Georgia. We have two children and a seven-year-old grandson. Our daughter, Jennifer, lives in Mississippi and is a children’s librarian. Our son, Patrick, recently graduated from the University of Georgia (UGA) with a degree in commercial interior design. He is currently looking for a position with a design firm.
